NORTH YORKSHIRE
MOORS A COAST:
We
forged a trail route
in a clockwise
direction covering
the vast expanse of
the North Yorkshire
Moors. Taking in
areas such as
Harwood Dale,
Fylingdale Moor,
Sleights Moor,
Stoupe Brow etc.
 This
circular route is
about 66km /
41miles.
It
took the
Bicyclemania
trailfinders 2 days
to complete the trip
at a steady crank
turning pace.
At the
end of the days ride
we stopped at points
along the way.
Pit-stops were at
Whitby & Scalby.
There are plenty of
B&B's along & just
off the route.
You
could possibly have
all the four seasons
in one day.......!
A
bright & sunny
morning could turn
into a wet & windy
afternoon or vice
versa.
So
remember to take the
appropriate kit with
you. |

You
set off from
the edge of
Scarborough
seaside
town, in the
small
village of
Scalby.
Where you
head inland
and into the
deep Dales
and grassy
meadows with
their steep
wooded
slopes.
Snaking your
way along
old
Bridleways
and farm
tracks,
glimpsing
views of the
North
Yorkshire
Moors as you
follow the
route
towards the
Moors.
Some
sections
along the
way will
include
steep grassy
banks,
narrow
single-tracks,
country
lanes,
tracks and
open high
Moors.
Naturally
their will
be gates and
obstacles to
over come
along the
way too. |

DAY 2 |

 |
WHITBY
TO
SCARBOROUGH |

Riding
Distance
About: (29.4

 |
You
set off from
Whitby
fishing
village on
the North
sea coast,
heading back
inland a
couple of
miles where
you pick-up
the route.
There is a
short sharp
climb to get
elevation
before you
head back
towards the
coast line.
Here you
follow well
established
tracks and
Bridleways
towards the
small
picturesque
village of
Robin Hood's
Bay nestling
at the foot
of dramatic
cliffs.
Re-charge in
the village
with its
hundreds of
tea shops
before you
continue.
Now
you follow
tracks and
narrow tree
covered
paths before
gently
climbing up
to get a
full view of
the coast
line, with
its rocks
and small
bays
hundreds of
feet below
you. The
last few
miles are
easy on the
legs as you
are gently
heading
downwards. |
