kidder got out of the wrong side of bed this morning & through
all his toys about in a paddy. Back to normal (for him)
& after breakfast the pair sat in the hotel lounge trying to
muster up the will to go on. They sat watching the rain hitting
the window for about 20 minutes before Chiefy realized the water
was coming from a broken down pipe & not rain. The warm up
for the day was a fist fight in the hotel car park, full
of adrenalin they headed off. Back again over the (A-66)
& up between Sale Fell (373m) & Ling Fell
(373m) the views from Wythop Woods were
spectacular, Kidder nearly went straight on at one of the
hair-pins. (It was a close call)
Tea for two at Swinside pub & then onto a sweet
single-track above Derwent Water with stunning
Lakeland views. At Borrowdale Gates (Middle earth)
the pair decided to hit the road to Rosthwaite. A
few minutes later the pair are in the tea gardens of a cafe
tucking into fantastic bacon buns & looking at the near vertical
downhill track they could have been on. (Glad not to be
today, another walk) Guts full they saddled up & headed
off for Honister Pass (356m) the pair did it in
one go, chasing each other for the summit. Wind-proofs on at the
top & then high-speed downhill passing the odd slow cars to
Buttermere lake edge. The trail from the lake edge around to
Buttermere was a family track. Kidder & Chiefy had a quick chat
with a Park Ranger who told them that the route they would take
tomorrow would be very tough, steep, technical, & boggy. (Great)

The pair arrived at the YHA. to find it still shut, so it was
hot tea for two sat on the porch admiring the stunning views.
After a shower & sort your life out they had a lovely meal in
the YHA. & walked off down to the local pub for a few pints.
Kidder on the Scotch & Chiefy on the black stuff. Back to the
YHA. & a long stair climb to their room. |
