The info:
Grizedale Forest has some of the best mountain biking trails in
all of the Lake District, and the G.M.B.C. has put together a
fantastic course to test you to the limit, with a big bonus of
brilliant views.
'And this time it quite dry for the Lake District'
The course is run
entirely over forestry land so inevitably this creates a real
mix of terrain for the riders. The singletrack is fast, exciting
and a little testing in places, the fireroad is sweet relief and
the 'landrover tracks' can make you wish you had four-wheel
drive! It climbs to a height of 294m and this being the Lake
District means the views are stunning. No other event in England
can claim to have all of this!. |

 A new mountain bike
trail for Grizedale has been
built thanks to sponsorship from The North
Face and Rural Regeneration
Cumbria.
Starting at the
Visitor Centre the new North Face Mountain Bike Trail is a
10 mile track consisting of 9 new sections of sinuous
singletrack trail on the west side of Grizedale Forest. The
trail offers adrenelising sections of single track descent
with leg burning up hills, contouring through oak woodlands
and conifer forest. This challenging trail also gives the
mountain biker tricky board walk sections through meadows
yet reward the trail rider with outstanding views along the
way. |

~ Bicyclemania Ride ~
"A
great September's day, full throttle around the Grizedale Forest in
the Lake District"
Chiefy was at the
Grizedale Forest Park in the heart of the Lake District. Air
horn goes and all the riders are off, the course was excellent, it had
everything from fast fire roads, up-hills, down-hills,
single-tracks, walking-bits, technical-sections, tree roots and all. There was a light
wind blowing on the hill tops, so the damp was getting cleared
fast, we did see the hazy sun but not much.
The trail was well marked out so this year no chance of getting
lost, not like three years ago. Even I managed to navigate around
O.K. The conditions tested each rider to his or her limit, you
really had to keep your wits about you especially on the very
slippy 'NorthShore' sections. The course snaked its
way all over the Grizedale Forest area starting and finishing
back at the main centre.
I think the mass majority of riders would like to see some sort
of gripper surface applied to the wooded plank sections.
Get yourself ready for next years event and go and take on
the terrain. |
