Chiefy
arrive at Trentham Gardens for the 'Karrimor/Specialized
Enduro6 Challenge'. This was another new start for
Chiefy, a running start & it was not the best way to get
going for an six hour event. Running in Spd's on hard uneven
ground made for some delicate foot work, anyway off into the
forest and down a fast track to the lake side track. The
first section was straight forward & then you came to the
first long climb, which slowly got steeper & steeper the
near to the top you got. ( It was ride-able )
After getting
your breath back you entered the narrow twisting
single-track dodging the trees & negotiating the downhill
section twisting over tree roots to a cheeky little climb
back up into the woods. Then came the fast track
roller-coasting it's way around the wood & dropping down to
a fire road. Here you could flick up a few gears and
crank-it to the next big climb, tackle the hairpin & start
the long haul up to the top. You could use both sides of the
track to get to the top, it was the last 20 feet or so that
really got you totally committed to take it on. Once on top
there was no chance for a breather, another short climb took
you to the downhill section where you could really fly
connecting at the bottom with a sweeping right-hand bank
leading you into the woods again.
Once into the
woods you some how got that sticky feeling, someone was
holding onto your tyres. Climbing out & cresting the top
took you to the danger zone. Dropping down into the root
infested wood where the lines changed every lap & clearing
the right-hand bend took you to the bomb-hole drop. Then you
entered the smile zone where you could open it up a bit. Now
out into the open you could crank-it around the back of the
arena on a fire road which took you through the edge of the
wood and back into the pit village where you dis-mounted and
walked through the timing tent and back to your pit box.
"Out again for more of the same"
"Six hours & 4 laps later it's time to chill-out" |
On the roller-coaster
around the trees

It was a loose
tough climb
but it could be done
