Bicyclemania Ride ~
Chiefy
found his patch for camping in the field on the banks of the
river which runs through the Welch market town of Builth
Wells. The prospects for the weekends Marathon 75km Enduro
were looking good, the ground was dry and 10% chance of
rain, it was going to be a hot and dusty race.
~ Wicked
terrain
~
The riding conditions were perfect, a thin high cloud cover
which was letting the sun through and no wind. The trail was
very easy to follow, not like last year (Rain & mud) The
whole 75km trail was ride-able apart from the last wooded
hill-side.
~ Feeding Stations ~
What a welcome change it was to find plenty of water and
food at the feeding zones, (Chiefy said " It gives you
more confidence knowing you can re-supply and carry-on at
your race pace ") At one of the service stops Chiefy had
to have a minor tweak made to the Dale by the Halfords crew
so it would drop down into the granny ring Chiefy's little
old legs needed the small gears now. The boys did a good job
and all to soon Chiefy was back in the saddle and spinning
away.
~ The Finish ~
Completing the Kona 75km was on of the best and gruelling
races Chiefy had ever done, it had given him so
much satisfaction high-lighting in coming back into the
finish arena totally worn-out, covered in dust & happy to
still be in one peace. |
