1. Mark your seat post
with a piece of tape or a pen. Loosen the seat-post clamp bolt
and remove the seat-post. Wipe it, lay on a light layer of
grease and reinsert the post to your correct height. Tighten the
bolt. Some carbon frames shouldn't be greased check the manual.
2. If your
post has been noisy the past few rides, wipe the areas where the
seat-post clamps the seat rails. Spray lube onto the areas, give
it 10 seconds to penetrate, then wipe dry. If the squeak
continues, you'll have to take the seat off, lube the clamp and
bolts and reassemble.
Choose the right saddle for the right job. Gel filled
saddles, saddle covers made out of thick neo-propylene. Female specked
saddles, race saddles, touring saddles and lots more. Pick the right one
for your style of riding.

Grease
Seat post every six months. <Not carbon seat-posts> Especially
clean the Seat post after a particularly wet ride. Clean head
& lightly grease all contact points & bolts every six
months. Strip-down
and clean whenever a squeak starts. If it's a
leather saddle polish it & keep it clean.
