The info:
 Bontrager Twentyfour12 is an endurance Mountain Bike Race around a course of approximately 12-14km that is entirely off road. As the name suggests there are multiple races taking place at the same time on the same course a 24hour race and a 12hour one and a new 12 hour one the Torchbearer12 that starts at Midnight.
 The venue offers space and facilities for camping all on site. The venue is perhaps England's finest with beautiful scenery, a flat arena/camping area complimented by a course that has been host to five rounds of the Cross Country World Cup in the 1990s and continues to have a superb reputation for variety and fun riding ........... JULY . . . VERY HOT & DRY WITH NO WIND . . . . 'THIS MUST BE THE SOUTH?'.
 What a great weekend for the 'Bontrager TwentyFour12' MTB enduro event. It all kicked off at Newnham Park near Plymouth where the U.C.I. world mtb circus turned up back in 98 & 99, so you know it's going to be a great course.

 The event village was full of happy campers all chilling out and getting ready for the battle that would take some of them from daylight into night time and beyond. The groups were split into  3 types, 12 hr / 24 hr starting at midday & 12 hr Torchbearers starting at midnight. It was a cocktail of mountain bikers all coming together under one event and one route which made for some fantastic biking with a friendly atmosphere.

 I know this is stating the obvious, but a good set of lights is the golden rule. Try and spent as much money as you can on the lights, risking it on a cheap set of say, commuter lights is fine on a lit street but out in the dark woods and countryside is not the place to be when your flying down some single-track with the odd tree and rock just waiting in the dark stuff to collect you full on. Top lights = top night riding..!!
