lives of many individuals and their families.
'Have you got the heart for it'
a 30 mile ride through Derbyshire's spectacular Peak District
starting & finishing at Rowsley, Peaks Rail JCT, off the A6 near
Matlock.
IT'S
SUNDAY, SO ITS ANOTHER EVENTS DAY
~ Bicyclemania Ride ~ Mac's 'big breakfast' on the way to Matlock. Chiefy
arrived at about 09.00am for a kick-off time of 09.30am.
The British Heart Foundation charity event fell on a free
weekend so Chiefy was up for having a bash around the
great Derbyshire peaks. A quick register and then a roll
out of the Thomas the tank engine site (Peak Rail
Junction) and headed off into the wild ......er
....tarmac roads.
Chiefy soon found his cycling legs and started to turn the
pace on. It was great to see so many bikers out on the
ride all helping to raise money. About half way around the
route Chiefy had a front wheel blow out, so it's all stop
and a quick tube change and then off again. From then on
Chiefy top geared it along the off road trail for a good
few miles collimating in a downhill section of about 100
feet and back onto the road.
From here on it's a steady run back to the finish line,
not to mention the mother of all road climbs just before
the fast bendy downhill back to the finish and receive a
little B.H.F. medal for your efforts and donations.
"The good thing about these charity rides is"
(A) you get to ride around a pre-set route which is
signed & Marshalled with refreshments so no need to keep
stopping and checking the map. (B) you make a small
donation and help a worthy charity to boot.
