The info:
Take part in this brand new event and choose from either a 17 mile or 23 mile route around the reservoir starting and finishing on the North Shore at Whitwell, Oakham, Leicestershire. Rutland Water is one of the largest man-made reservoirs in Europe, set in 3,100 acres of picturesque countryside. The route follows the shoreline and as it's not a race you have plenty of time to take in the beautiful surroundings. Have fun and raise vital funds for the BHF's lifesaving work. Join us and help us to beat heart disease together. The entry fee is £8.00 per adult and children aged 12 years and under are free to enter.

Heart disease & the facts: Coronary heart disease is the most common cause of death in the UK; 1 in 4 men & 1 in 6 women die from it. Heart disease affects people of all ages & from all backgrounds. It has a terrible impact on the lives of many individuals and their families.

IT'S SUNDAY, SO ITS ANOTHER EVENTS DAY
~ Bicyclemania Ride ~
'
Would you believe it, a warmish still and sunny Octobers day'
Once you are sign in you can choose the start time you prefer and then get ready for the big off. The weather was fantastic this year and loads of eager bikers young and old all turned up for a charity bicycle ride around the Rutland Lake.

Most of the riders had the B.H.F tee shirts on and the others had to do with out because  the organizers had run out. The riders set off on a man-made build track around the lake with its ups and downs as it twisted through woods, meadows, cycle lanes and mirror roads.

There were a couple of rest stops for all the riders if they wanted to stop and have a break and re-charge the run down batteries. Marshall's were posted at all the major junctions to help point the riders in the right directions. Also out on the route were paramedics on bicycles roaming around to give assistance if needed.

"The good thing about these charity rides is"
(A)
you get to ride around a pre-set route which is signed & Marshalled with refreshments so no need to keep stopping and checking the map. (B) you make a small donation and help a worthy charity to boot.
