The info: The Viking Challenge 50km Off/road course features
some of the most beautiful countryside in the East
Midlands, O.K. so it was a bit sloppy & sludgy but it kept
you on your toes, or arse. This year the Viking Challenge
catered for 1,035
on/off/road cyclists & raised monies for the
Cystic Fibrosis Trust & Redmile Village primary
school.
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust
is the UK's only national charity dedicated to all aspects
of Cystic Fibrosis (CF). It funds research to treat
and cure CF and aims to ensure appropriate clinical care
and support for people with Cystic Fibrosis.
IT'S
SUNDAY, SO ITS ANOTHER EVENTS DAY
~ Bicyclemania Ride ~ Would you believe it,
warm & sunny Octobers day. "But A Mud
Bath"
Registration was very well organized simple
affair just sign in & say what time you are going to
start, tie on your number to the bike & at the finish
hand it into the time-keepers.
The route this year had a different section in it, but
on the hole the same course as last year so you new
what was coming, or we though we did, the ground was
all slippery & muddy in the off/road sections so it
made for delicate biking skills. As last year the
route took in canal tow paths, byways, woodland
tracks, short sharp up-hills, small down-hills, edge
of fields & country lanes. And according to Kidder &
Chiefy it looked like everyone who had a mountain bike
of some sort had turned up to do this event.
"A total of 1,035 rides had a
bash" one hell of a turn out ....again.
Everyone seemed to be in good spirits for the event
the route was well signed and marshalled too, the feed
stations were well stocked with juices, Mars bars &
bananas not like some major events Kidder & Chiefy
have competed in. A big thanks must go out to all
involved in the making this event even bigger and
better than last years.
'Are you up for it next year ........... see you
there!'.
