IT'S
SUNDAY, SO ITS ANOTHER EVENTS DAY
~ Bicyclemania Ride ~ Race number added to
the bike and it's off for a quick ride around the
course to check-out what's in store. Once on the
course the first thing I was aware of was how soggy
the grass was, it was sucking the tyres down and made
for flicking to some lower gears. Next came a short
switch-back wooded section and then out onto more wet
grass, this was only a short section. Eventually the
tyres struck gravel and you headed up to a quarry
section where you dropped down a muddy bank only to
climb a slippery wet grass slope, it could be done if
you turned the cranks nice and smooth.
The Quarry
Passing through the quarry section brought you to a
couple of short sharp gravel hills and once on top you
headed off into a wooded section and onto some tarmac
where you could flick up the gears before entering
into a another wooded section. Now you where entering
into the theme park complex and heading off towards
the big dipper.
The Big
Dipper
In and out of the big dipper steel stanchions and up
and down the muddy tree lined banks several times
before cresting the last grass bank. Now you could
open up the gears and blast down a gravelled track
before entering into the tricky stream section where
the ground gave way to slimy mud. Once through that
bit it was into the heart of the theme park riding
passed all the silent rides, over the rail lines and
through the tunnel for the next leg sapping lap or if
it's the last lap around the lake to the finish, job
done.
