miles, 10.5 miles, and 14 miles. The
longest ride is reported to take around
3.5 hours and is quite hard. Way-marked
trails mostly use forest access roads,
some of which are littered with boulders
and steps, making it quite technical.
There is precious little single-track,
however some route offer good views over
the Coniston Fells and Coniston lake

NEW
THE
NORTH FACE MOUNTAIN BIKE
TRAIL
' n o w o
p e n '

A new mountain bike trail for Grizedale has
the go ahead. thanks to the sponsorship of
The North Face and Rural Regeneration
Cumbria. Work will start on the new Trail at
the beginning of April 2005.
Starting at the Visitor Centre the new North
Face Mountain Bike Trail will be a 10 mile
track consisting of 10 new sections of
sinuous singletrack trail on the west side
of Grizedale Forest. The trail will offer
exhilarating sections of single track
descents with leg burning up hills,
contouring through oak woodlands and conifer
forest. The challenging trail will also give
the Mountain biker tricky board walk
sections through meadows yet reward the
trail rider with outstanding views along the
way.
The new trail at Grizedale will be built by
the welsh team responsible for the very
successful Afan Forest Trails in the Swansea
area. Work on the trail will start at the
beginning of April and will continue for the
next few months. It is hoped the trail will
be complete by early autumn. The trail build
has been made possible through The North
Face Mountain Bike Trail Partnership. The
partners are The North Face, Rural
Regeneration Cumbria and The Forestry
Commission. |

Have a bicycle, it helps!.
Always wear a cycle helmet.
Ride with a smile, not a bashed in face ..!
Expect the unexpected because it'll never
happen ...! properly ....?
Give way to walkers/ horses & be friendly
towards other forest users, especially
sheep.
Never ride whilst under the influence of
drugs, alcohol or porno's ... Boring..!
Always have enough money with you. 'Duh', to
buy Bicyclemania trailfinders a pint.
Footpaths are for walkers only, .....
" you know what we mean "
Ride flat-out & attack every hill, it could
be your last ride, ever .. ever ... ever!.
Please do not drop litter or fag butts,
stuff'em down your shorts.
Come back for a ride with a big smile and
all your teeth.
DANGER ! Keep away from all forest
operations like, S.A.S. special training
op's.
...'Only teasing' .... |
