You will start off heading up the
hillside of the 'Viking Way Trail'
on open land then dropping down a fast
twin farm track to the small Wolds
village of 'Claxsby'. |
|
 |
Now comes a short sharp steep tarmac
hill climb back up onto the Lincolnshire
Wolds and if you take a moment look over
to the left for a super view. |
|
 |
Get your breath back as you whiz pass
the radar station situated high up on
the Wolds. Then cross over the main road
(B-1225) and head down farm tracks
towards the Wold village of 'Rothwell'. |
|
 |
Head down hill at at-speed towards the
village of 'Rothwell' on classic wold
chalk twin tracks carving their way
along the valley. |
 |
 |
Now comes a short road section then its
off onto a bridleway roller coaster all
the way to the Wold village of 'Stainton
Le Vale'. See if you can conquer the
wood scramble. |
 |
 |
Fly down the long bridleway track to the
Wold village of 'Binbrook' and a
feed zone is waiting for you at the
bottom. (Remember to slow before the
road) |
 |
 |
Now choose your gear and tackle the long
tarmac hill climb back onto the Wold
tops, where you pick up another
bridleway which ends in a steep drop
down to a country lane. |
 |
 |
Now comes a tough little off road climb
up to the edge of a wood where you pass
the edge of the wood and drop down a
grass track to a fast little bridleway
running parallel with the contours. |
|
 |
Further on you come to 'Heartbreaker
Hill' so sit and spin your way up or
get off and run. (Walk) its up to your
little legs. Once you have got over the
summit it's a roller-coaster to the next
feed zone at the Wold village of
'Swallow' |
 |
 |
A nice flat road bit (Keep in) to a
classic bridleway up hill and pass 'Badgers
Wood' with a sting in the tail after
the gate.
(Will you able to ride it?) |
 |
 |
Cross over the main road (B-1225)
Caution when crossing and tackle
the fast bumpy downhill track to the
Wold village of 'Nettleton'. Now comes
the mother of all pains a steep tarmac
hill climb out of Nettleton and back
onto the Wold tops. (It gets steeper at
the top) |
 |
 |
Nearly home and maybe dry too?. the last
section is a bridleway track taking you
along the Viking Way ridge above 'Walesby
village with superb views across to
Lincoln cathedral in the distance. where
you drop downhill on a steep grassy
track to the Finnish line. (Watch out
for the rabbit holes) |
