From Andrew:
Hello,
I
just wish to thank the team for
organizing a great event. It was
my first proper MTB event and as
tough as it was, I really
enjoyed it. I was still on a
high from completing it the next
morning. Already looking forward
to next year, although my
muscles are saying something
else! Lets hope the ground is a
bit firmer!.

From Andy:
Hi there,
The 2007 challenge is the
first time I have entered an
event of any kind and also the
first time I have ridden for
over 10 miles continuously on
ANY terrain... that said the
organisation was excellent -
not a single wrong turn and
all the other riders were out
for a good time. Thanks for
putting on such a well
organised event - I thoroughly
enjoyed it and will be back
next year!

From Jason:
Quick thanks to the organisers -
good route (probably a bit too
much road - but after slogging
through some of those wet fields
the roads were quite a relief)
and the weather wasn't that bad
either. Not sure that the climb
so near the start was such a
good idea though. Also I agree
that some of the markings
weren't that clear - me and a
guy called Steve (hi
mate) missed a turn near East
Ravendale. All in all great fun
except that I stacked big time
downhill near Nettleton and
after finishing (7th) found out
that I'd broken my collar bone.
Had an op on Tuesday - no biking
for 3 months!.

From Jon Barnbrook
Hi,
I just thought I would drop you
a line to says thanks for
putting on a cracking event on
Saturday. The course held up
really well to say how much rain
we had in the previous week or
so. Those that stayed away
because of the weather missed
out.
The only thing that could be
improved slightly in my opinion
is the course marking. Only a
small thing but I overshot a few
turns and I know a couple of
lads went off track.
Thanks again and looking forward
to next year already.
Regards.

From Phil:
What a day, well organised,
friendly and that hard I
didn't even finish it.
Mechanical problems were my
excuse, fell off three times,
all part of the fun though?
Third time pulled the rear
brake lever out of its
'socket' - there was no way I
was going to ride down some of
those hills without a rear
break! Its the first time I
have ever tried such an event
and I certainly give full
marks to those who finished,
their bike handling skills
must be 'A1' also though,
commiserations to the ones who
failed, its very frustrating;
lets get trained up and show
what we can do next year??.
The only downside, apart from
the weather, is it would have
been much better if possible,
to start off the ride on a
road for a mile, that would
give everybody chance to
'string-out' or start off in
groups with a reasonable gap
in-between. I found it very
frustrating that even after
the first few hundred yards
there was not enough room for
all riders to ride through
that gate and continue riding
up the grassed track - some
were having to push their
bikes even after this short
distance as it was difficult
to get started again.
I will certainly want to ride
it next year its just a pity
it is such a long time to wait
- any chance of another this
year??.
Cheers, Phil

From
Ian:
Thanks all
When I woke the next morning’ I’d
really enjoyed the day, only
joking, it was tough though.
It’s the first event of its kind I
have done, and at 57 it
WAS a challenge, but it
was very satisfying to have
conquered it
Very well organized, hope to do
many more
Thanks again.

Hi Chiefy & the team,
Thanks again for a fantastic
event. Same crap weather as last
year but who cares. I think this
course has the makings of a real
classic MTB event. Talking to
various people on the ride they
all agree that this course is one
of the most challenging they have
done.
Thanks again - see you next year
Regards.

From
Paul & Sue:
Really enjoyed the event on
Saturday - despite the mud and
rain !
The
course was excellent and the
organisation very professional
but friendly. We particularly
liked the cheer-leaders being
there for the tail-enders as
well as the leaders of the
pack. We'll hopefully be back
next year - and hoping for
drier ground !.

once we had started it was fun and
everyone was really friendly too".

route and the food. We'll be back

From Glynn:
" To the organisers,
Thanks for a great days riding.
Shame about the weather but we
can't have everything. For your
very first event I though it has
the potential to be something as
big as the Viking challenge if not
bigger. The course was fab if
maybe a tad longer than the 50km
you said it was (but that's the
challenge) The views on the course
would have been glorious if the
fog had lifted. In all it was well
organised and everybody was as
friendly as ever. The only
criticism I had was that there was
only one food stop where I though
you could have had 2, one at a
third of the way around and the
other at two thirds. Apart from
that, fantastic. Thanks for the
spot prize.
Regards" |
