After a good English they headed off to the
start of Hardknott pass, a 1,200 feet tarmac
climb with very steep hairpins. Once the
pair had cleared the summit it was full
steam to the next challenge, Walna Scar. The
pair pushed there bikes through the thick
mist & over the top then came the technical
downhill stuff. Chiefy suffered brake fade
at the bottom & was all prepared to bale
out, but managed to save the day. That
called for a few pints in Coniston before
they pushed on over Grizedale Forest. A
wrong turn & they ended up making a 10 mile
detour back over the Fells to the ferry
landing.
Kidder & Chiefy just had time for a ice
cream before the ferry landed. A 10 min
crossing & a quick blast to Windermere where
the pair stopped for a few more pints before
heading off to Trout beck & the YHA. After a
shower and tea the pair went down town to
Ambleside for a few more beers. They had
ordered a taxi for 10.30pm to get them back
to the hostel for 11pm, but it never showed,
so they had to thumb it back. Luckily for
them a kind motorist stopped and gave them a
lift to Trout beck. But the pair still had
to find their way back up the narrow hill
to the YHA. in the pitch black. Back into
the dorm full of Japanese's and night night.
