Come & take part in a 'THE WAR OF THE WOLDS'.
A mountain bike event in N.E. Lincolnshire riding around the rolling 'Wolds'.
Take on the rolling hills, country lanes, byways & bridleways in this beautiful area.
We have 2 fantastic challenges on offer for you. (40mile/64km & 20mile/32km)
The route will have 'feed-stops' where you can get some refreshments.

 
 
How much will it cost me to take part?
Pre-entries for the S H O R T - R O U T E > are £10
On the day fee for the S H O R T - R O U T E > is £15

Pre-entries for the L O N G  - R O U T E > are £15
On the day fee for the L O N G - R O U T E > is £20
All cheques please make payable to J. POTTS
We will be raising money for the 'Lives' charity. Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Service. (Charity Number:1098364)
Raffle prize, kindly donated by 'AndyStand' is a bike stand, RRP £40 .. .. brilliant idea from 'Andy Stands' raffle ticket only £1 (monies raised go to charity)
When is the last postal date accepted?
Last postal date for the Bicyclemania Challenge will be on Friday 18th May 2012.
After this date an on the day fee is applied. (£15 or £20 depending on route distance you enter)
Can I turn up on the day and pay?
Yes, just come to the H.Q. and sign on by filling out the entry form, then collect your ID number and saddle up.
You will have to log in and out at the finish/start area, if you fail to log in/out, no time will be recorded for your ride.
What is the start time?.
The start time is open from 10.00am. (A mass start with lots of room to manoeuvre, long route riders will go first)
You must come through the timing tent to get a recorded time when you come back.
Can I pay with a credit card, switch card, euros, U.S. dollars or eggs?.
Eeerrr.... No, sorry, we can only accept at this moment in time cash or cheques supported with a bankers cards.
What will I receive after I have sent in my entry form?
If you have pre-entered, you will receive a e-mail confirming you have paid to take part in the event.
Where do I go when I get to the event?
Please follow the event Marshall's instructions for vehicle parking, then make your way to the H.Q. to sign on.
Plus collect your information pack along with the rider ID number and route map.
What sort of cycling routes will it be on?
The route will follow black arrows on white cards along a marked out route. (Maybe some arrow marks on the tarmac too)
Taking in uphill sections, downhill sections (Some steep) country lanes, (Some narrow) A-roads, B-roads.
Will there be any refreshments on the day?
Yes, there will be 'FEED-ZONES' on the route for both the 40 mile and the 20 mile rides.
Apart from food, water & juice on the route there will be a caterer at the event site.
How do I get to the event site?
The Grange, Swallow, Nr. Caistor, North East Lincolnshire, LN7 6DL.
Event signs will be by the road side for approaches.
Are there any toilets at the event site?
Yes, we will have portaloo toilets on site.
Is there a maximum time allowed to complete the ride?
Sort of, we aim to have you all back by 16.00.
A vehicle will go around the route (Where possible) to pick any riders dropping out.
Is the event a race?
No, It is just what the title suggests - a 'Cycle Ride' challenge.
If the individual cyclist wishes to compete against one another or go for a personal best, that is not a problem.
Please remember you will be riding on the public highways as well as off/road.
Will I get a record of the time it took to complete the ride?.
We will be publishing finishing times on the web after the event for your own interest. (It's not a race) Results
Are there any age limits?
No, but please bear in mind the routes are over some demanding terrain.

Please declare the person entering is capable of completing the course + must be accompanied around the route.

If I cannot make it back to the finish arena with my child, what help is there?
A sweeper vehicle will be patrolling the route to pick up drop-out riders, (road only) the driver will not carry spares.
Is there a collection point?
Yes, there are collection points on the route at the FEED-ZONE'S marked on the route map.
If you have to drop-out make your way to the FEED-ZONE and wait there for the sweeper vehicle.
If you drop-out and leave the event by other means, PLEASE LET THE H.Q. KNOW.
Who do you expected to enter the event?
Cyclists who are looking for a good day out.
Serious cyclists who will want to blast around the route,
Cyclists looking for a bit of a challenge and a fitness ride.
Sponsored teams and groups plus friends & Weard and wacky teams.

declaring that the person entering will be capable of completing the course & will be accompanied around  the whole route.

 2x feed-stops on the LONG route & 1x feed-stop on the SHORT route.
 The route will be signed.
 Please follow the event Marshals instructions, they are for your safety and the other riders.
 All riders are obliged to wear a hard shell helmet (British standard certified) at all times during the ride.
 Check your bicycle is in good working order especially the brakes/gears/chain/nuts & bolts.
 All riders must carry enough food, drink & tools to sustain them for the ride.
 Please do not rely on the feed stops for a three course meal, it's just .... (Juice)
 All riders should carry adequate clothing in case conditions change.
 Riders must give way to walkers, horse-riders & take special care at section on the course, start & finish areas.
 Please do not ride more than single file or overtake in dangerous places.
 Never overtake on the inside. (It'll end in tears)
 Give good clear signals before making any turn or overtaking, Always look behind you before.
 Try not to stop suddenly as there may be other cyclists behind you.
 Be patient with other cyclists, some will be inexperienced.
 Be alert and considerate to other riders on the route.
 Keep your distance from the bicycle in front of you, don't speed beyond your capability.
 Hills & drops may be steep than you anticipate, with hidden bends, potholes or loose gravel.
 If you need a rest or your bicycle breaks down, get off the course.
 If feeling ill during the ride do not continue, it could endanger your health.
 At junctions be careful. (DON'T GO STRAIGHT ACROSS, STOP & LOOK BOTH WAYS)
 Please DO NOT drop your litter, bring it back with you. (If Marshals see you drop litter you will be disqualified)
 If you are in doubt about your physical fitness, consult a doctor before partaking in any physical exercise.
 Ride within your capability, and above all enjoy the Bicyclemania Challenge event.
 Please DO NOT ride along with headphones on, it's not safe to do so on the public highways.
 
  THE LEGAL STUFF <>
Please be aware that dangerous cycling is a criminal offence under the 'Road Traffic Act 1991, section 28.
All participants should exercise caution at all times & have due regard to the presence (or likely presence) of other users.
Organisers are not responsible for any injury sustained by you arising from your participation in the cycle events.

You agree to abide by the event marshals, event organisers, Highway code and country code rules.
You are over the age of 16 years (Under 16yr's see below) and fit and able to ride and control a bicycle on a road.
We ask you to wear a British /EU certified helmet during the event ride.
{Mandatory at off/road events, highly recommended on the road}
You will exercise caution on the route, at all road crossings, road junctions, downhills, up hills along the route.
You will not drop any litter on the ride, you will put all litter into provided bins at the feed-zone & event site.
You will behave in a decent manner to the general public out on the ride.
Please DO NOT ride along with headphones on, it's not safe to do so on the public highways & Bridleways.
For under16's a guardian signature is required on the entry form.
(stating you will be accompanied around the whole route by someone responsible for you and your actions)
