Kidder washing the bike,
should of been his kit!
From the harbour in Barrow in Furness on the West coast of Cumbria Kidder & Chiefy set off on the Mammoth mountain bike ride full of apprehension to what will come their way on this seven day lung busting leg sapping trail. The first stop is Mac's only 250 yard's down the trail, fuel for the trip. Chiefy makes a joke and Kidder snots out half a chip through his nose, it's a sure sign of things to come.
'All right Kidder' ... 'Yes Chiefy'...... 'Move out'.!

The pair head out of Barrow -in -Furness on route to Eskdale via the Cumbria Cycle Way to Foxfields, and the very first biker they see is no less than Pro rider Mr. Barrie Clarke out on a training run. Kidder & Chiefy push the big ring to Broughton-in-Furness and just happen to stop by the pub on the hill. Downing there pints of Guinness they survey the route ahead Ulpha Fell & Birker Fell at about 889 feet. Another two pints is called for before the off.

Kidder & Chiefy set off again dropping down to Bank End and then starting the valley run up Dunnerdale heading for Ulpha. It's a hot afternoon and the holiday makers are cooling down by jumping off a bridge over the river Duddon. The pair think about it but on second thoughts decide wet cycling shorts are not the orders for the day. The climb up to Ulpha & Birker Fell was hard, lugging all that kit, but the pair as usual had a mad spirit over the summit and onto the top of the Moor.
(Guinness sweating out of the pours)

Turning off/road the pair headed downhill on a wicked track to the valley floor of Eskdale, crossing the river and finishing up at yet another pub at the end of the trail. Time for a few more Guinness and then it's off to the youth hotel in Eskdale to check-in and have a well eared tea, and of course back to the pub for a night cap. (As you do)
